The Heart of the Relationship for Every Child
- Judi Jacobsen (Childplayworks)

This interactive workshop will briefly open up the what, why, and how of’ the relationship for every child’ which inherently becomes the core philosophy in the Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) approach to working with children. In doing so, we will explore some effective ways of communicating with tamariki and understanding, so they feel heard, which will accordingly strengthen our relationships with tamariki in counseling, home, school, and community. Everything is drawn from the CCPT approach.

I live in Taupo , with my husband of 51 years. My background in education led me on a quest for an answer to the significant unmet emotional needs of tamariki. Reading Virginia Axline’s iconic book ‘Dibs in Search of Self’ (outlining the life-changing, non-directive play therapy process for ‘Dibs’), I was inexplicably drawn, and began
my journey into CCPT. A counsellor, supervisor, trained play therapist, and the Founding Director of ChildPlayWorks Charitable Trust.
